More About Art Therapy

Art psychotherapy is like talk therapy—we will still be talking through and addressing what you are coming to therapy for—but in the session you will also make art!

It requires NO ARTISTIC BACKGROUND. You do not need to know how to paint, draw, sculpt, etc. In fact, it often helps not to have art making experience!

Making art about the things we’re experiencing in life, whether directly or indirectly, is often the first step to better understanding them. The art you make can become a tool that allows us to approach our therapy together in a more creative and collaborate way. It can also facilitate deeper conversations, provide insights to your life, and help us focus on what you are coming to therapy for. Art can also be used as a coping skill to provide healing in unique ways. Art therapy is something I suggest experiencing to fully understand, but it’s incredible—I promise!
